Why do candidates talk electric cars as an alternate to gasoline to save energy? Isn’t electricity an energy?

Yes, electricity is energy. But it is a renewable source. We can get it from solar power. Oil, on the other hand, is a non-renewable source (we’re running out) and is polluting the environment which we share with other animals. They have just as much a right to be here as we do.
