What types of fuels or alternate powered engines are being considered for air traffic?

Considering the imminent reality were facing with the depleation of fossil fuels and and our energy resources that power our vehicles. What is being done for air transportation, considering alternate fuels and forms of energy for motor vehicles are slowly evolving?

  1. Well you can’t use the word "considered". Biofuel has been used to fire jet engines for a long time. Even the small toyplanes are fuled with Ethanol "Alcohol", ether, Methanol etc. These are all made from Bio (biodegradable) materials plus octane boosters. Burns better and better performance. Ethanol (Corn, Sugarcane)
    Etther depending iso propyle methane or ethane etc etc.
