Is there any alternate energy which can power vehicles that is ready to take oils place today?

Not really.
The two technologies I would consider as the most promising would be natural gas fuel cells and electricity.
However both of these have their own drawbacks. For example – battery technology is an inefficient use of energy and it is getting harder and harder to squeeze more energy into the same weight/volume of a battery and ensure that you are not accidentally making something that can explode like a bomb if damaged.
