Alternate forms of energy that can be used in Long Island?

I need to write about an alternate energy form that could be used in Long Island, New York.
Is it possible for nuclear energy to be used? I was thinking it might be able to; however, there’s no space in Long Island to store a nuclear power plant and concerns of irradiation would be probably arise.
What are some other forms that I could consider for this essay?
Links are appreciated.
Thanks.

Evacuated solar tubes and heat pumps could be used. Tidal acton and micro turbines might be another option. Since your paper is hypothetical i dont see where money is an issue, so check out thin film solar technolgy (new and due to get cheaper) you could in theory have an entire buildng skin of the stuff.and turn every sun exposed verticle surface into a collection site.
